euthanasia

Euthanasia is a practice whereby a person can end his life in order to relieve the pain and suffer. Yes, nowadays people can commit suicide in right procedure and legally. Based on Regional Euthanasia Review Committees, there are about 2120 deaths from euthanasia in Netherlands in 2007. Do you know why there are so many people who do it? Death is not that simple, but still, is it the only way for them? It is often said that “Do not fear death so much, but rather the inadequate life”. Some people think that it is better to die than to suffer in life. Like an example, Mrs. Boyes, 70 years old widow who was infected by rheumatoid arthritis and severe complications. She felt so much pain that she will scream every time people touch her. Desperate, she repeatedly asked the doctor to end her life quickly. The doctor who takes care of her, Dr. Cox, therefore give her an injection of potassium chloride in 1992. She had a peaceful death and Dr. Cox did the right things to help the patient. Euthanasia should be legalized as it has benefits for the patients and their family. The most significant benefits are to relieve the patients from the pain and to take the pressure away from patient’s family.
Euthanasia, which means “good death” in Greek, is a legalized way for patients to be free from suffer when he/she can’t stand the pain anymore. Based on HealthDay News, about 36.000 deaths in US are caused by pain killer overdosed. It is undeniable that many people with severe illness can not bear the pain and thus have to consume pain killer. Moreover, according to NVVE surveys, more than a half number of people who undertake euthanasia are based on their own will. For the example, Sue Rodriguez (1950-1994) was diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 1991. She lived painfully knowing that the disease will damage her muscle one by one until all of it. However, she was still fully conscious to feel these immeasurably sufferings. She had no hope to live in such kind of misery, until one day she decided to end her life as she could not endure it anymore. Based on Daily Tribune, chronic pain can affect human’s psychological, such as desperate and unwillingness to life. It can be imagined how people feel is, when they can not do anything by themselves, even walking, also the indescribable pain from illness that disperse in their body. Consequently, euthanasia can be just the most comfortable way to relieve the sufferings.
By ending patient’s life, also can lighten their family’s pressure in term of financially and mentally. Let’s take cancer as the example. Based on Chemotherapyfacts.com, the drugs only will cost about $100-$300 for an eight week supply and $10.000 for the chemotherapy. Yes, it is not that easy to pay the cost, just to see the patient continuing to face the severe illness. The facts from medical experiment shows that chemotherapy causes many side effects such as nausea, vomiting, hair loss, fatigue, bleed easily, and decrease in immune system. The patient will be more fragile to be infected by other fatal illness. To see a family member going through these things for the rest of his life is a mental pressure. Some patients will choose to end his life thus his family can keep on going. What is the point to survive a painful life when the family can let him go peacefully? Thus, a legal euthanasia can be the solution to relieve the pressure of family as long as the patient will to do it.
As the conclusion, euthanasia should be legalized as the only way for patients to be free from their pain and to relieve the pressure of their family. In the future, there will be more and more complicated illness that can be cause by virus or even, failure in surgery. The question is, when the patient is begging to end his life because of a tremendous pain, will the family accept it? Overall, it again, comes back to one’s spirit to life and to be recovered. When it has been carefully considered to end one’s life for his/her goodness, then it should be done correctly, without any regrets.

Capital punishment

Nowadays throughout the world, many crimes in human society are becoming more cruel and inhuman such as terrorism, human trafficking, and even serial murders. Due to this, countries like China and United States have set the regulation of capital punishment or death sentence as the heaviest punishment to such tremendous crimes for a long time ago. As we can see, many people lose their family just because of these inhuman acts. As the example, the 2002 Bali Bombings are killing 202 people and 240 people are injured. The WTC building terrorists attack that killed 2996 and more than 6000 people were injured. The terrorist executes his demonic act without caring about the victims, and thus, death sentence is worth with what they have done. Can you imagine the world in future with no more crimes? Or people can live peacefully without any fear of harm? “Punishment is justice for the unjust” maybe is the right answer. Therefore, capital punishment must not be abolished for some purposes. The most significant purpose of capital punishment are to avoid any worse act’s  possibility that the criminal will do after being arrested and to teach other people not to attempt crime in order to increase world’s security
For an experienced criminal, giving a death sentence is the best way to avoid any bad possibilities such as jailbreak and more crimes after being released. Even being arrested for one’s lifetime is not very effective to teach them a lesson. Based on Bureau of Justice Statistics, there were 6530 prisoners escaped in US. How can the state assure that these prisoners will not put other people in danger? In fact when a criminal got a second chance, he will do anything that can harm other people to keep running from the police. The biggest escape in British history, on 25 September 1983 in Northern Ireland, is done by a 38 years old guy who is convicted of murderer and causing explosion. He escaped from H-Block 7 prison, kill a prison’s officer and hurt twenty others using a shotgun. He also succeeded in releasing other 38 prisoners. Some of them were rearrested the next year with more sentences for their crimes. A state must consider not taking a high risk by keeping a high level terrorist in a jail. The other example is Osama bin Laden. Can you imagine if the police can arrest him and just put him in the jail? Yes, his men will simply crash another plane in the prison to release him. Therefore, a death sentence is the appropriate way to punish a tremendous crime and cut all of the roots, regarding to what they have done.
Capital punishment also can teach other people who want to attempt any crimes by creating the fear in them. Once the government really executes the death sentence, people will think twice to do crimes. Like in Singapore, any crimes such as drugs trafficking and murderer can be punished by death sentence. About 400 people have been hanged in Singapore. Based on CNN International, Singapore is the “top executioner” country, and thus has the lowest crimes rate among others, only 45 drugs cases among 100000 people. Even though some people argue that death sentence is inhuman, regarding that criminals also have right to live, but still a state must consider about nation’s security, not one person. After the death sentence’s execution is being known broadly, people will know that the law is firm and assertive in constructing the justice. Realize it or not, it will teach the society to keep in right track, as well as increasing their morale. Therefore, capital punishment is important to teach the people about justice and also significantly decrease criminal’s rate.
As the conclusion, capital punishment take an important role in cutting of the crimes and all of others possible, also teaching the people not to attempt any criminal’s act. For the crimes are worse nowadays, will you forgive a very bad person that kill many innocent people just for nothing? Has he ever cared about people’s future when he killed them inhumanly? There will be more and more crimes as the result of lack of morale and education. Terrorism, murderer, and drugs trafficking are the worst crimes that will increase in the future. However, preventing all of this maybe is a better way rather than punishment. Overall, a state must be more concern in decreasing the criminal’s rate. Education, prosperity, and morale level are the major points to implement it. If people knows what is right and wrong, there is no such things as criminals, and therefore no need to execute a death sentence.

essay 2 - STRESS

Stress can be defined as a condition when human’s body reacted to a particular overwhelming condition. As human’s body can’t bear it anymore, thus it starts to show some unusual syndromes. Eventually, the main cause of stress is human’s mind, when they tend to treat some problem as an extremely important thing.  ”Stress is an ignorant state, it believes that everything is an emergency” may be appropriate to represent it. Have you ever felt overly panic or even insomnia when being chased by deadlines? Yes, some people may think these are usual syndrome. However, it shows common signs and symptoms of stress. Based on American Psychological Association, surveys showed that 82% of stressed people in America feel some symptoms such as headache, changing in eating habit, and easily get angry. Therefore, stress can give some impacts to people in modern society. The most critical effects nowadays are committing suicide for the changing in behavior and obesity for the changing in human’s physic.
Nowadays throughout the world, committing suicides are nearly common to be done as the result of overly frustration. For this case, let’s take teenagers as the example. Most parents will naturally ask their children to study a lot of thing to become a successful person in the future. Piano lesson, homework from school, joining language course, final exams, these are things that obviously most of teenagers will go through. However, is it not too much? Can their body stand it? 73% of 804 teachers in America believe that teenagers are more frustrated than before 10 years ago. Moreover, John Harkin, head teacher of Oak grove integrated college in Londonderry said that about 800 teenagers commit suicide in every year. It really takes a big role of their society life. Some of them commit suicide as withdrawal, whereas the others do it to show the world of their existence. Scientists found that some teenagers commit suicide because they had a big problem in their mind and can not share it to other people. Bad relationship between parents and their child, failed in school, and lack of mental health in school affect the teenagers stress level. They are confused how to handle it, over-depressed and choose to commit suicide. Therefore, stress is the main cause of those number of suicide incidents among teenagers.
Recent experiments showed that there are relations between stress level and obesity. When under depressed, human’s brain will release a hormone that will activate a gene in fat cells. Based on the journal Nature Medicine’s study, scientists found that a stressed mouse will gain weight twice as much as normal mice, and stop gaining weight when the hormone being taken. For human, some studies also found that stressful people will easier get fatter, it is because the changing in their hormone and eating behavior. If in one night, you are busy doing assignments. When you feel hungry, will you chose to prepare a plate of salad or just order McDonalds? Based on experiment, under-stressed people will tend to eat more sugar and salt. They believe that it will give them more energy to continue their work, they need it. Eventually, this obesity’s problems are getting worse. The World Health Organization said that the number of obesity in the world will double to 2,3 billion in 2015. They are to busy minding their deadlines, no time to exercise and no time to take care of their food. Also because of stress, a hormone called neuropeptide Y that cause fat cells growing and multiplying, is resulting in the increased of obesity. It is really obvious that stress level can change human’s physic in term of obesity and also change their way of life in society’s life.
As the conclusion, stress can result some critical impacts in term of changing how people behave and changing their physical appearance. As we can see, these problems are getting worse. Will you being controlled by your life’s matter? As nowadays, urban area is getting more modern. It means that there will be more pollution, people must live systematically, and stress level will be increased in the future. However in the other hand, scientists keep working on finding the way to reduce stress level. In order to avoid some particular physical problem and frustration, people must avoid stress. They can do some stress’s managements such as listening to music, relax, exercise and even shopping. But after all, it comes back to human’s mindset. If people can always think clearly, and do their activity in well organized way, they hardly become stress and frustrated in going through their life.

essay 1-success

Success is referring to a condition when people had achieved their goal or simply means, the opposite of failure. When talking about success, who is the person that first appear in your mind? For most people, they will visualize success as a very rich man. Most of businessmen such as Donald Trump often think that “Money is everything”. According to Forbes, Trump’s wealth was valued at $2.9 billion in September 2011. However, he still has never stopped multiplying his wealth. He still owned Trump’s tower, some casinos and other investments. Therefore, earning more and more money influence the way they lead their lives. However, let’s think about a good guy like Mahatma Gandhi, or a very powerful one like Adolf Hitler. Eventually they don’t have a lot of money, but still they can be defined as a successful person. Consequently, success can be interpreted in many ways that also affected the life of people who believed in it. The other most common types of success beside in term of money are spiritual and power.
Mahatma Gandhi is a successful person in spiritual in term of resisting desires for material gratification and devoting his life in spiritual realm. He is honored as Father of the Nation and his birthday had become International Day of Non-Violence. Time magazine named Gandhi the Man of the Year in 1930. Gandhi was also the runner-up to Albert Einstein as "Person of the Century". Born on 2 October 1869, living with a devout mother and non-violence tradition really influenced him, thus take an important role in his adult life. He leaved India to study Indian law and jurisprudence in London. Moreover, he became interested in religious thought. He decided to become vegetarian, mutual tolerance among individuals minded and he went trough self-purification. Gandhi successfully became the first to apply non-violence in the political fields. Beside that, Gandhi always lives in simplicity. He dressed up like common Indian and sometimes borrows a cloth from his Indian workers friend. He believed in inner peace and treated everyone humbly. In his religion life, he practiced Hinduism and rejected all efforts to convert him to a different faith. But if he was asked about his religion, he will answer that he is also Christian, Muslim, and Buddhist, as he believe all of the religion is same, taught about kindness. One of his philosophy, "When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love has always won. There have been tyrants and murderers and for a time they seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall — think of it, always" shows how he look at his life and affects his mind in going through his life.
Adolf Hitler is successful in power, as he controlled lot of followers who obeyed him and he was a big influence in his era. Born on 20 April 1889, he already fixated on warfare after finding a picture book about the Franco-Prussian War among his father's belongings. Hitler served as a runner on the Western Front in French and Belgium in World War I. Kept impressing his mentor with his orator’s skill, Hitler slowly entered into politics. One of his mentors introduced him to a wide range of people in Munich society. He joined the party as a chairman with 3680 members. He became a candidate in presidency in 1933 with 17.277.180 votes, or 44% of all votes. He gained more control power after he became the chancellor of Germany. Beside that, he is also the idea behind Nazism. All of the followers of this ideology, think that German people is number 1 and they are racism-minded. He also had an important role against Britain in World War II. Thus, Adolf Hitler had a big influence and he dedicated his life to gain more power, also led his thousands of followers.
As a conclusion, success can be defined in other way that can made people going through their life with a different ways.  Think about it, what kind of success you will choose in your life? Which factor that you want to gain most, money, spiritual, or power? Actually, success can be affected by people’s mind and their environment. This paradigm will absolutely change how they think and lead their life. In the future more and more people will chase their success by earning a lot of money. As nowadays, the world has become more modern and peaceful, thus most of things can be done using money. But to keep in mind, human being must balance all of the success factors. Having enough money and power, also keep in touch with their religion is ideal for successful life. At the end, as long as people do and gain something based on what they believe, they can be success in their own life.
